Altered Monotype on Arches Paper
Acrylic, White Charcoal
12” x 9.5” live print area
This artwork was painted on glass, transferred by printing on archival paper with a baren and wooden spoon, and enhanced with paint and white charcoal.
"Aprons" is a series of monotypes inspired by reading an article about a female referee in a futbol match who was told to "stick to the kitchen" by a field player. The Celtic symbol for strength is suggested by the blue loops emitting from the bottom of the apron. The asemic writing surrounding the figure alludes to the aspersions often cast upon women in catcalls and insults.
